One of my favorite anime of the past 5 years is easily Jujutsu Kaisen by Gege Akutami. The fight scenes and an abundance of amazing characters have made this one of the most popular anime out there. And we have you covered with our Jujutsu Kaisen Anime Guide
The manga was first serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in March 2018. Protagonist Yuji Itadori joins a school for Jujutsu sorcerers after eating a cursed finger and having a powerful demon reside in his body. And while Jujutsu Kaisen is the first manga, it has a prequel that Gege wrote which can confuse some readers.
The good thing is that the anime and manga are easy to follow with its timeline. Some anime and books make the past too complex, ruining the experience for new readers. This is why we created a simple and easy to follow guide that you can see below!

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1
The first season of Jujutsu Kaisen was produced by Mappa and released from October 3, 2020 to March 27, 2021. This was my first introduction to the anime or manga and I was amazed at the production quality as well as the plot. But what won be over were all the unique characters and their unique powers. There are a few characters that steal the spotlight with great writing and humor that aren’t the main characters.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0
After the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen, the anime followed up with a movie released in March 22 called Jujutsu Kaisen 0. That is because the events that take place in the movie happened prior to the first season. You should watch the first season of the anime and then this but watching this movie is important because it is integral to the plot going forward. A few characters appear in the movie for the first time in the anime and can confuse people if they don’t watch the movie.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2
The second season is one of the best anime seasons I have ever watched. The anime, released in the summer of 2023, starts with the first 6 episodes that play an important part in the show. And it is beautifully told with amazing animation and storytelling. And after that, we get the Shibuya Incident Arc that has so many epic fights from all the major characters in the show.
Conclusion
With two seasons and a movie under its belt, Jujutsu Kaisen already has become one of the best anime of all time. And the next season of the show will keep that trend going with Gege writing it and Mappa producing the show. It is no wonder that Jujutsu Kaisen was the second bestselling of 2023.
